Abstract:
The flush end-plate beam-to-column joints with inserted plate were modeled using finite element software ANSYS and component method provided in Eurocode 3. The modeled results were compared with experimental results. The results show that the finite element analysis and the experimental data give the similar moment-rotation curves, hysteretic curves and joint deformations; the rotation capacity and stiffness of this type of joint can be simulated well with the finite element method. The stiffness of the joints with satisfying accuracy can be obtained by using component method. The inserted plate does not influence the behavior of beam-to-column joints.
