Abstract:
Static and dynamic testing of nine strands was carried out by model tests, bending stiffnesses on the natural frequencies and deformations of the suspension cable were analyzed. The design method of test model, scaling rules, and loading programs was introduced, and the calculated and measured results of bending stiffness of main cable were compared. The results show that the bending stiffness produces a greater effect on the natural frequency of suspension cable, especially in the high frequency. The influence of the static deformation with bending stiffness is mainly located near the location of the bridge towers, and with the increase in the number of strand wire, the influence of the bending stiffness decreases.
