- Abstract:
- Taking the replacement ratio of recycled aggregate concrete and adding amount of expansive agent as parameters, 4 recycled concrete columns confined by steel tube and 4 recycled concrete columns confined by glass fiber reinforced plastics (GFRP) under eccentric loading were tested, and the effects of confinement by steel tube or GFRP on the ultimate load and axial strain of specimens were investigated. The ultimate loads of specimens was compared with the calculated values. The results show that the ultimate loads of 100% replaced recycled concrete specimens are lower than those of normal concrete specimens and the ultimate loads of GFRP confined specimens are lower than those of steel tube confined specimens. Expansive agent can increase the ultimate load of specimen and the effect is more significant on specimens confined by GFRP. The axial strains of specimens confined by GFRP are larger than those of specimens confined by steel tube, and the axial stains of 100% replaced recycled concrete specimens are larger than those of normal concrete specimens.
