- By large general finite element software ANSYS, an analysis model of outside steel frame joints without considering initial defect was built. Correctness of simulation was proved by comparing the results of experiments. The steel frame joints with location axis deviations which were justified to the code and two times as that of the code were analyzed. Six groups of specimens with different widths and thicknesses of steel beam flanges and different widths and thicknesses of forcetransforming plates, whose location axis deviations were limits of design code, were calculated. Analysis of loaddisplacement curves and stress distribution were carried out. The results show that the width and thickness of forcetransforming plate are taken as the key design parameters for outside steel frame joint with forcetransforming plate. The thickness of adding forcetransforming plates should be as same as that of beam flanges, the width of adding forcetransforming plates should be 0.75-1.25 times as that of steel beam flanges.
