- In order to investigate the antiexplosion performance of reinforced concrete (RC) column subjected to combined blast waves and fragments, numerical simulations were carried out for the analysis on the damage process and failure mechanism of reinforced concrete column under closein explosion by using finite element analysis software ANSYS/LS-DYNA. At the same time, the dynamic response of reinforced concrete column under blast waves alone, fragment alone, and the synergistic effect of the two actions were compared. The results show that under the close-in explosion, blast waves come to the column before fragments, while the column with a certain damage occurs bending failure both by impact effect of blast waves and erosions of fragments; the time of the columns peak displacement response is controlled mainly by the fragment effect; damages of the column caused by fragment cluster are far worse than those caused by blast waves, and the synergistic effects of fragments and blast waves are more serious than either separate effects of anyone alone or effects of linear superposition, so the fragments effects and synergistic effects should be considered in the antiexplosion design.
