Abstract:
The author has published an article ‘Walls Innovation and Sustainable Development' in March issue of monthly Building Structure in 2004. This paper is limited, and omits the energy saving buildings in developing way. If the masonry materials can meet the requirements of developing sustainability and does not pay attention to saving energy,then the aim of sustainable development can not reach. To the contents discussed in the original paper, such as three common failings occurring in buildings built with concrete small hollow blocks: heat transmission,crack and seepage,to these,the experience and successful prevention methods in the practices in China were introduced,and the application of three wastes improved the circumferential pollution,and obtained good social benefit and obvious economic benefit.Besides,to the production of masonry materials, the author summarized in three methods: fired,autoclaved and gelling.The author considered that the states of art of relevant production and application of masonry materials in foreign countries should be understood to find the disparity where we lagged behind so as to plan the production in China. Finally, the prospect in the future was presented.
