Abstract:
Based on finite element analysis method, a typical cold-formed thin-walled steel framing system of low-rise residential buildings was modeled. Authors analyzed internal forces, deformations and shear forces in walls of the building under wind load and earthquake load. Finally, the hypothesis of in-plane infinite stiff floor in the method of relative stiffness was inspected by changing the in-plane stiffness of the floor. Authors suggested that the finite element method should be used to calculate shear forces in walls of the structures with complicated shapes. The results indicate that the cold-formed thin-walled steel framing system has a well integral behavior and can accommodate the demands of load and deformation capacity in areas with earthquake intensity Ⅵ.
