Abstract:
Flow around a circular cylinder for low Reynolds number was numerically simulated through the laminar model with the reasonable meshing division. The producing and development of the vortex shedding from the circular cylinder were simulated by using the software FLUENT. Distribution of surrounding pressure coefficient around circular cylinder surface and drag coefficient and lift coefficient, as well as Strouhal number were calculated. In order to study the control measures of the flow around circular cylinder, the numerical calculations of different baffles were carried out. Analysis results show that the vortex shedding of flow around circular cylinder can be well controlled by placing the baffle at the downstream medial axis of the circular cylinder, which can reduce drag and resist vibration; the calculated results of different coefficients agree well with other numerical results from the references. The method has a high accuracy.
