Abstract:
In order to study the influence of joint stiffness on dynamic behavior of spatial triangular square hollow section(SHS)truss, the modal analysis and seismic time history analysis of the spatial triangular SHS truss were done using three models: the fine shell element model which was regarded as standard, the simplified model considering the joint axial stiffness and the rigid connected model without considering the joint axial stiffness. The results show that the influence of joint stiffness on the dynamic behavior of square tube truss cannot be negligible and the rigid connected model is not suitable for the dynamic response analysis of square tube trusses, but the simplified model can simulate the dynamic behavior of square tube truss more accurately and reflect the effect of joint stiffness better. The simplified model in the paper is more suitable for the practical engineering analysis.
