- Abstract:
- Based on understanding the material properties of coal gangue, the application progress in roadbed, base course, and surface course applications were systematically reviewed. The strength development mechanisms, construction adaptability, and durability performance of coal gangue as an ecofriendly alternative material in different road structural layers were mainly analyzed. Combined with recent representative research, the advantages of coal gangue materials in engineering properties such as compactability, water stability, and shear strength were summarized. The evolution of mechanical properties and structural vulnerability under hightemperature wetdry cycles, freezethaw cycles, and loading conditions were analyzed. The structural composition and strength formation mechanisms of cementstabilized and limefly ashstabilized coal gangue bases were summarized, and their application potential and functional expansion directions in asphalt mixtures were explored. The results show that coal gangue possesses excellent mechanical properties, making it a valuable road engineering material worthy of promotion. Affected by regional variations in physical properties, the longterm service performance and environmental safety are still lack of systematic evaluation, and the relevant standard system is not perfect. In the future, it is necessary to strengthen the research on the multicondition service behavior of coal gangue in road engineering, construct a wholeprocess standardized technical system covering material evaluation, mix design, construction techniques and performance testing, and promote the road application of coal gangue from pilot demonstration to largescale, standardized and industrialized development.
